Creative Meetups

Creative Meetups

It started when a friend told me:

“You’re the only other designer I know.”

That didn’t sit right with me. I believe all designers need to have creative friends to relate to and grow with.

I began to identify what designers needed most.

Group of diverse young adults smiling and posing for a photo indoors, some standing and some seated, with a wooden wall and counter in the background.
Group of four young adults sitting at a table during a discussion or meeting, with a man in the center holding a laptop displaying a slide titled "MISSION" and speaking to the group.
Group of diverse people posing for a photo indoors with colorful flower decorations on the wall behind them.

The answer, I believe is
Community.

I began hosting creative meetups, announcing on social media the time and place I would be studying at. Five meetings later, the attendance has shot up to 13 people! I think we’re onto something here . . .

There are 3 key values for creative meetups.

Relate

People thrive through human connections. Encountering like-minded peers who avoid using corny fonts like Comic Sans and Papyrus is an added bonus.

Encourage

Encouragement boosts self-confidence, combats insecurity, and empowers individuals through positive reinforcements.

Grow

Meetups foster friendships and provide opportunities for sharing experiences and broadening perspectives.

Here’s what some of the attendees had to say.
